Korean Scalp Shading in Richmond, BC

Korean Scalp Shading – The First in Richmond, BC

We’re proud to be the first clinic in Richmond, BC to offer Korean Scalp Shading, an advanced, and non-invasive technique that originated in South Korea.

Unlike traditional Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP), this method is performed on the epidermal layer of the skin, allowing for a softer, more natural appearance. It’s perfect for those who typically rely on hair powders or sprays to create the illusion of thicker hair.

This treatment is ideal for clients who:

  • Want to create the look of a fuller, youthful head of hair
  • Wish to camouflage scars from injury, surgery, or hair transplants
  • Want to enhance the results of a hair transplant by adding density
  • Prefer a more natural-looking alternative to traditional scalp tattoos

Who It’s Best For

  • Suitable for dark hair only
  • Best for clients who have some natural hair present
  • Not recommended for completely bald areas

DO YOU HAVE THINNING HAIR?

On average, an individual loses 50 to 100 strands of hair each day. This usually is not noticeable because new hair is growing in at the same time. Hair loss occurs when new hair doesn't replace the hair that has fallen out, resulting in a thinned out spot or a bald spot.

Typical Causes:

  • Genetics
  • Hormonal changes and medical conditions
  • Medications and supplements
  • Postpartum Symptoms
  • Due to high stress
  • Excessive Hairstyling & Coloring

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Scalp Shading For?

Scalp shading is ideal for a wide range of individuals, including:

  • Men and women with thinning hair.
  • Individuals experiencing pattern baldness (receding hairline, crown thinning, etc.)
  • Those seeking a non-surgical hair loss solution.
  • People wanting to camouflage scalp scars from surgery or injuries.
  • Individuals with alopecia.
  • Those desiring a low-maintenance hair loss solution.
  • Anyone wanting to boost their confidence by improving their hair's appearance.
  • People with light-colored hair and scalp who want to reduce contrast.
  • Those who prefer short hairstyles.
  • Individuals considering or who have had hair transplants and want to enhance density.
  • People looking for immediate results in addressing hair thinning or loss.

Procedure Overview:

: Create the illusion of denser hair, correct receding hairlines, or make the forehead look smaller.

: Pigment is implanted superficially into the scalp using microneedles. The procedure is less deep and bold than Western SMP.

: Often plant-based or specially formulated cosmetic pigments, designed to fade gradually and mimic natural hair tones.

: 1–3 sessions, each lasting 1–2 hours.

What are the benefits of Scalp Shading? Any damage?

The benefits include:

  • Providing a non-invasive and cost-effective alternative to traditional hair restoration.
  • Enhancing appearance and boosting self-esteem by simulating natural hair follicles.
  • Creating the illusion of density for thinning hair.
  • Concealing scalp scars.
  • Offering a low-maintenance solution.
  • Providing relatively immediate results.
  • The needles used in scalp painting only penetrate the scalp to a depth of 0.25-0.5mm, so there is no risk of damage and does not clog pores or hair follicles because of this.

Is Scalp Shading permanent?

Results are not permanent. It lasts up to 1 year depending on your scalp & lifestyle. The pigment will fade over time, and touch-up sessions may be needed to maintain the desired look.

Is Scalp Shading painful? Do you numb?

Most people report minimal discomfort during the procedure.

Similar to body tattoos, numbing cream can affect the result.

What is the recovery time after scalp shading?

There is typically minimal downtime. Some mild redness or swelling of the scalp may occur immediately after the procedure, but this usually subsides quickly. Each client has different scalp conditions and lifestyles that will affect healing differently. Like all permanent makeup procedures, pigment gradually intensifies after procedure within a few hours -24h and will fade more naturally.

  • Avoid alcohol day of procedure.
  • Do not shampoo your hair for at least 2 days.
  • Avoid saunas, swimming and excessive exercise for one week after procedure. Sweating can hinder proper absorption of pigment, so please be cautious.
  • It is safe to use hair loss products after 1 month of the procedure.
  • You can dye or perm your hair after 1 month of the procedure.

How does scalp shading work? How much does it cost?

The procedure involves using specialized micro-needles to deposit pigment into the epidermal layer of the scalp, mimicking the appearance of tiny hair follicles. We use certified safe scalp pigments from Korea blended with nourishing ampoules. The formula is delicately infused into the scalp to camouflage thinning areas—without clogging pores. It's an ideal, natural-looking alternative for those who typically rely on hair powders or sprays.
